๐ŸŒฑ Young Jackfruit (Not Ripe!)

This recipe uses young green jackfruit, not ripe jackfruit. Young jackfruit:

  • Has a neutral flavor, perfect for savory dishes
  • Shreds beautifully like pulled pork
  • Is rich in fiber, supporting digestion and fullness
  • Contains vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium
  • Low in fat and calories, making it great for lighter meals
  • Naturally cholesterol-free

โš ๏ธ Important: Ripe jackfruit is sweet and fruity โ€” it will not work for savory recipes like this. **Fun Fact: the taste of Juicy Fruit gum comes from ripe jackfruit.

๐Ÿง… Onions

Onions add depth and nutrition:

  • Rich in vitamin C and vitamin B6
  • Contain antioxidants that support heart health
  • Add natural sweetness and umami to savory dishes

  • Creates that classic โ€œpulledโ€ BBQ flavor everyone loves

๐Ÿž Soft Kaiser or Slider Buns

The perfect vehicle for your filling:

  • Light, soft texture balances the saucy jackfruit
  • Ideal for parties, portion control, and finger food
  • Can easily be swapped for whole-grain or gluten-free options

๐Ÿฅฌ Coleslaw & Pickles (Optional but Highly Recommended!)

  • Coleslaw adds crunch, freshness, and balance
  • Pickles bring acidity that cuts through the richness
  • Both enhance texture and flavor while keeping things light

Perfect for Any Occasion

These sliders are:

  • Game day favorites
  • Perfect for potlucks and BBQs
  • Easy picnic food
  • Great for feeding a crowd
