Ingredients
- 4 carrots-cut to size of bun
- ยผ cup soy sauce or tamari
- ยผ cup rice vinegar
- ยฝ cup water
- 1-2 tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- In a glass container, add all ingredients except the carrots.
- on a cutting board, cut carrots to the size of a hot dog and the length of the bun. Using your vegetable peeler, peel the carrots and slightly angle the ends.
- Bring a pot with 2 cups of water to a boil and add the carrots. Allow to cook for about 15 minutes. You want the carrots slightly soft but still firm in the center.
- Remove from heat and add the carrots to the marinade. Allow to stay in the marinade for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the grill or bbq, you want to cook and heat through. If using a grill allow to get char marks on your dogs.
- We like our buns toasted and I love adding chili and cheese or ketchup, mustard and all the fixings.
