Budget Friendly Oil Free Pizza

When the kids were young, Friday was pizza night, I used this one bowl dough and sauce and allowed my girls to be creative with your pizza making skills! Friday was everyone’s favorite day because they got to make their own pizza with what they wanted as a supposed to ordering pizza with a same toppings week after week. Allowing your children to participate, encourages them to eat what they made and to have a decision in what they wanted to eat. Research shows that when children participate in the making of food, they are more likely to eat and experiment with new foods.

Make this a new tradition in your home. Some great toppings are cheese sauce, vegan cheese shreds, your favorite vegetables, like peppers, shredded carrot, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes.

  2. Oil-Free Option: By making your own pizza crust, you have complete control over the ingredients, including the amount of oil used. Opting for an oil-free crust is not only healthier but also allows the flavors of the toppings to shine through without competing with added fats.
  3. Budget-Friendly: Homemade pizza crust is incredibly budget-friendly, requiring just a few basic ingredients that you likely already have on hand. With flour, yeast, water, and salt, you can create a delicious crust for a fraction of the cost of store-bought options. Plus, you can make multiple crusts for the price of one, saving even more money in the long run.
  4. Customizable and Versatile: Making your own pizza crust gives you full control over the ingredients and allows you to customize the crust to suit your preferences. Whether you prefer a thin and crispy crust or a thick and chewy one, you can tailor the recipe to achieve the perfect texture. Plus, homemade crusts can easily be adapted to accommodate dietary restrictions or flavor preferences.
  5. Quality Ingredients: When you make your own pizza crust, you can choose high-quality ingredients, such as unbleached flour, which is rich in nutrients and fiber. Additionally, you can use whole grain or gluten-free flours to suit your dietary needs. By using fresh yeast, you ensure that your crust rises properly and develops the desired flavor and texture.

Benefits of Key Ingredients:

  • Flour: Flour provides the structure and texture of the pizza crust. Opt for high-quality flours like unbleached all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, or gluten-free flour blends for added nutrition and flavor.
  • Yeast: Yeast is responsible for leavening the dough and creating air pockets that give the crust its light and airy texture. Using fresh yeast ensures optimal rising and a delicious, yeasty flavor.
  • Water: Water hydrates the flour and activates the yeast, allowing the dough to rise properly. Using filtered or lukewarm water at the right temperature (around 110°F or 43°C) ensures optimal yeast activity and dough development.
  • Salt: Salt not only enhances the flavor of the pizza crust but also helps regulate the yeast’s activity and strengthen the gluten structure of the dough. Use a fine sea salt or kosher salt for best results.
