Fall is in the air and everything is Pumpkin Spice everything. This make me one happy girl because if you been around here you know I love pumpkin all year round. Yes it’s easy to go to the store and buy a pumpkin pie spice blend but the best spice blend is one you make yourself. It is too easy not to make your own, it calls for 5 spices and 5 minutes. If you’re thinking hey I don’t have this one or that spice in you pantry., I suggest going to a bulk store and only getting what you need for this recipe. This recipe can be doubled but I suggest making a small batch so the spices keep their flavor.
What is Pumpkin Pie Spice made from?
It’s a combination of warm spices including cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cloves. You can always tweak your recipe to your preference. I’m not a big nutmeg person, so I use less then the traditional recipes may call for. Allspice is known as the Jamaican pepper and a lot of dishes from Jamaica include this spice, especially jerk seasoning. It adds it’s own special to this recipe.
No there is no pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie spice blend. But this spice blend is amazing with pumpkin and recipes, like smoothies, muffins, oatmeal, french toast, pancakes, cookies, cakes, lattes or roasting fall vegetables.
This should last 1-2 years just check your expiry dates on each individual spice.
